I have a BenQ HD DLP projector. I must say it is the single coolest piece of electronics I have ever purchased. I play GW on it, and 360, and watch movies.

i spent $800 dollars on getting a new system. Now i have to spend another $800 dollars or more on PS3 and some games along with accessory.

Damn, i love PS3 ... another money sink for me

If you only knew what it took to get them to buy it. Then it only looks good with High-Def and looks like ass with standadrd definition broadcasts or DVDs, etc.

Now as to the cost, the Cell processor yields are almost laughable, which means large production costs. The drive in that is worth 300 by itself (I have a listing of what the upgrade drives for PCs will cost at launch), the graphics processor is the same one off the 7900 GT, and it has an Ageia PhysX processor that was just released, to the tune of 250 USD.

Tell me where that doesn't add up. That's not dealing with the uber-expensive XDR memory, the PCB, case, power supply, controllers, and the cost of recouping the R&D time AND the Dual Shock lawsuit.

It's a loss for Sony, a victory for consumers and not in the neighborhood of my PC. It's what we call a killer app. It drives Sony WEGA HDTV sales, broadband, and movie/game sales, which make the money. What they forfeit in console they will extort out of us later.

Oh, and Tempest, I can still play Oblivion with all the eye candy that had to be taken OUT of the 360 version cause it couldn't cope. Consoles will never touch some PCs.

I agree with you and your post, it's just price out of the average game console market... and the PC Vs Console was more from the perspective a console users slaming pc's and the reverse. It takes years for them to accutally fully utilize the console's ability and by then pc over take them.

Nintendo Wii is shapping up nicely from the e3 and 20+ playable games at e3 (aka they will have a nice game selection at launch) .. If I have to wait a year or two for Ps3 to drop in price, I want it for the game console.. not the killer app it really is, I'm seriously consider buying it. Xbox360 does not have the type of games I play to draw me to it. Plus the ability to play or buy old games (from SNES, Nes, and Sega console as well)...

I was the one that originally posted that most people DO have HD's in there home...

Now, maybe it's just me...but I have one, my family has a few, not to mention all my friends, so on and so forth. I also do know that you can pick up an HDTV now for a great price vs. 3 years ago, depending on where you go to buy them. (Not including on DLP or Plasma here). My HD plays DVD's and video games nicely....very nicely.

I do however think it's a rip on Plasma HD's. They only last faithfully for what?...5 years?

DLP is more reliable also. Unfortunately it's a little more slower in projection of a picture than plasma.

We are all entitled to our own opinions....and there are pros and cons to everything. Don't take any offense of what I just typed...but this is what I think.

Would still by a PS3 anyway....I love Sony. Still have a PS2 First Generation and still running with NO problems at all. I've had Sony products all my life and never had problems with them, I will hold true to them

Even the Sony fanboys are kind of peeved about this. My buddy is a hardcore PS2 fan, and he says there's absolutely no way he's buying the PS3 until it dips down.

Keep in mind that by the time PS3 hits, you'll be able to buy a Wii (Rev) and a 360 for the price of one PS3.

Not worth it to me.

meh. PS3 is a sub-par game console (atm) compared to the 360. The blu-ray technology they were tauting so highly (no idea if they are still using it.) would take over a minute to fill the PS3's ram. The Cell chip is also going to be hell for programmers, and it probably won't be fully utilized till the end of the consoles life.
